Dumb and Dumber in Wausau, Wisconsin

knucklehead1Hopefully most people already know this. Obviously a 19 year old Merrill man didn’t. After brilliantly updating his facebook page, telling readers that he’d out-run a Sheriff’s Deputy last Wednesday night, he’s now up to his “face” in citations.

Clocked at 85 miles an hour, the Lincoln County Sheriff lost the vehicle after it traveled into neighboring Marathon County.

The police must be mighty busy in Scott, Wisconsin, where the speeder was first noticed. In a town a smidgen light of 2,000 residents and the driver only driving on a single road, Brandonberg Avenue, how did the dastardly facebooker get away so easily? Maybe the road is so small the little social media beaver had only a sixth of a mile to travel before he was across county lines. Whew, that was close.

Luckily, tonight the town can rest a little easier. A good citizen contacted the Sheriff’s Department and reported what the man posted on Facebook. The man admitted to being the driver after Deputies contacted him and confronted him with his own writings from the website.

No diabolical deed goes unpunished. He was cited for speeding, reckless driving and a misdemeanor charge of fleeing an officer.

The moral of the story:
Contrary to what you may imagine social media to be… no one wants to know your bathroom or eating habits, don’t just tweet something that makes it seem like you have tourettes syndrome. Certainly don’t tell others on a social site, that can be seen by millions of people, things you do illegally. Unless of course, your username is “knucklehead”.
