Following The Boomers All The Way To The Bank

Submitted by Top10USA on July 27, 2009 – 1:30 pmNo Comment

baby boomersGone are the days of rocking on the front porch and afternoon naps. The baby boomer’s of today aren’t quite ready to park themselves in one spot and simply accept what life deals them. According to a Kauffman Foundation study, baby boomers are starting their own business. The study also reveals that the US may be on the verge of an entrepreneurship boom. Wonder why?

These predictions are things that true entrepreneurs have known for years. Home businesses are always on the rise as the economy is on the fall. And really, what choice do some people have? Included in the mix are people who have lost their jobs. People are wising up and realizing that if they don’t help themselves, they’ll be out to pasture with the rest of the jobless citizens. Who wants that?

The last 10 years have seen the greatest increase of Americans in the 55-64 age bracket, starting their own businesses. This is also the highest rate of this type of activity over any age group. Those between 20-34 have the lowest rate. However with the employment trends as they are, this too will change.

Realizing now that there is certainly no such thing as job security, one of the main reasons people in the 20-34 age bracket chose not to start their own business, they’re now starting to wise up and take control of their own futures.
